FOX Plain Makes Shit Up
FOX News, jumping on the CBS bandwagon, has decided to completely make up a news story for its website.
In part, the story read:
"Rallying supporters in Tampa Friday Kerry played up his performance in Thursday night's debate in which many observers agreed the Massachusetts senator outperformed the president.
"'Didn't my nails and cuticles look great? What a good debate!' Kerry said Friday.
"With the foreign-policy debate in the history books, Kerry hopes to keep the pressure on and the sense of traction going.
"Aides say he will step up attacks on the president in the next few days, and pivot somewhat to the domestic agenda, with a focus on women and abortion rights.
"'It's about the Supreme Court. Women should like me! I do manicures,' Kerry said."
The item also quoted Kerry as saying of himself and President Bush: "I'm metrosexual - he's a cowboy."
I wonder if the FOX execs realize that The Onion already takes care of making up funny stories about politicians. And to think Bill O'Reilly can't figure out why Daily Show viewers are more politically aware than those of his show. Maybe a self-professed fake news source is the least fake option at this point.

The leftist media strikes again
What's buried in the CNN article entitled "Bush, Kerry debate Iraq"? The fact that Kerry won:
In a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll of 615 registered voters who watched the first debate, most said Kerry did the better job and nearly half said the debate made them think more favorably toward Kerry.
That's a small paragraph for a debate that by almost all accounts, Bush was pretty much whipped in. If you don't believe me, why don't you check out the right-wing blogosphere, or FreeRepublic.com, where, before the debate was over, posters were saying that the liberal media was going to spin the story to make it seem as if Kerry won. Now why would the media do that?

At the finale
Well then. I never would've expected it, but taking into account everything that Bush could've thrown at him, Kerry did well. Bush was on the defensive consistently, always looked nervous when Kerry was speaking, and seemed to be grasping at ideas that didn't come to him. I'll have further comments later, but for now Democrats can rest easy, since Bush just had his ass handed to him on a platter with all the trimmings.
20 minutes in...
Kerry has handled Iraq well. Bush is on the defensive. After seeing his performances lately, I didn't expect it. But there's still time to crash and burn.

Bush Handwrites Letter
Last week, a 12 year old girl from a small town in Pennsylvania received a handwritten letter from the President, to whom she wrote a letter to when she could not attend his speech. Her mother handed Bush the letter at the speech. The letter said that her three wishes in life were to go to heaven, visit Hawaii, and meet President Bush.
Bush replied with the following:
Dear Amber: Thanks for your kind letter. I wish we could meet sometime. Please give your family my very best wishes ... Best wishes always, George Bush.
That's right.
All young, preferably cute, children of undecided parents who live in swing states, please send your adorable letters to:

Schwarzenegger Supports Gay Rights
On Wednesday, Arnold approved a bill that would expand the definition of 'hate crimes' to include protection of homosexuals. Reverend Lou Sheldon is furious.
"Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger must not be too troubled by what he's called 'girlie men' because he's just signed a bill into law that maintains 'sex' in California to include drag queens, cross-dressers and transsexuals," Sheldon announced in a written statement. "Schwarzenegger has sided with the homosexual and drag queen lobby in muddying the biological realities of male and female."
So, Arnold comes into this country and chooses a party affiliation based solely on Richard Nixon's oratory skills. Then he becomes Governor and, lo and behold, he has a few liberal values like being pro-gun control, anti-AIDS, and pro-gay rights. And now the party is alienating him? In the meantime, when someone from our party acts this way, they reward him with a keynote speech.

Teresa Strikes Back
After a heckler criticized Kerry at a Heinz-Kerry speech, Teresa was easily able to respond to the question.
During a question and answer session, a young man demanded to know why Kerry voted to give Bush authority to attack Iraq but voted against an $87 billion appropriation bill to support the war effort there.
Heinz Kerry sharply asked the man whether he had read the legislation that was voted on.
When he said no, she told him that Kerry had supported $60 billion in military appropriations for Iraq, but would not vote for the full $87 billion because he considered it a "blank check." Kerry was one of 11 Democrats to vote against the bill.
"And we knew they'd already given Haliburton millions in no-bid contracts," she snapped, referring to the company formerly led by Vice President Dick Cheney.
The young man responsed with chanting "Four more years!" as he walked out of the auditorium. The partisan crowd's cheer of "Six more weeks!" quickly drowned him out.
What a sharp contrast from Laura Bush, who recently had a heckler arrested for asking why her son died due to Bush's war, a question which deserves a much more coherent answer than Kerry's critic. Heinz-Kerry, however, responded with intelligence and class.
